Tether Cable Replacement (Connection Fix)

For PC-tethered headsets, the cable is the most common failure point. We replace damaged or kinked cables to restore your connection to the PC.

Diagnostic Symptoms

•Screen flickers or shows static ('snow')
•Headset disconnects when you move your head
•No display but the PC detects the headset
•Audio cuts out in one or both ears

Expert Prevention

Use a cable management system (pulleys) to prevent the cable from twisting. Always untwist the cable after each session.

Rift CV1 Audio Fix (Ribbon Cable Bypass)

The Rift CV1 has a known flaw where the right-side audio fails. We perform a permanent bypass repair to restore sound to both ears.

•Grinding noise when trying to adjust the lenses

Expert Prevention

Don't force the IPD slider if it feels stuck. Regularly clean the area around the slider to prevent dust from entering the gears.

Breakout Box Repair (HDMI Port Soldering)

For headsets that use a link box or breakout box, the HDMI port is a common point of failure. We perform micro-soldering to replace damaged ports and restore your video signal.

Diagnostic Symptoms

•No display in the headset but the link box has power
•HDMI cable feels loose in the link box port
•Visible damage to the pins inside the HDMI port
•Intermittent signal when the cable is wiggled

Expert Prevention

Avoid pulling on the HDMI cable. Use a short extension cable to act as a 'sacrificial' port if you frequently plug and unplug your headset.

Homeowner Prevention Guide

To preserve your Rift CV1, be extremely gentle when adjusting the side straps to avoid snapping the internal audio ribbon cable. If you notice the cable twisting, disconnect it and lay it flat to 'reset' its shape. Store the external sensors in a stable position where they won't be bumped or knocked over.

Common Issues

Right-Side Audio Failure (Broken Strap Cable)

Problem: Audio completely cuts out in the right earphone.

Cause: A design flaw where the internal ribbon cable in the headstrap becomes brittle and snaps over time due to strap adjustment.

At-Home Remedy

You can try tightening the screw on the inside of the strap. If that fails, we perform a 'ribbon bypass' repair, soldering a new wire to restore audio continuity.
