Restoring VR optics requires extreme precision and a deep understanding of the headset's internal architecture. For minor scuffs, we utilize advanced, multi-stage optical polishing techniques to carefully resurface the lens without destroying the delicate Fresnel ridges.

However, for deep scratches, a full optical matrix replacement is required. The Rift S utilizes a single fast-switch LCD paired with a sealed lens assembly. To replace this, our teardown process involves carefully unseating the internal chassis from the front housing. We must delicately disconnect the ultra-thin ribbon connectors and MIPI DSI flex cables that route power and image data to the display panel.

Because internal tolerances are exceptionally tight, amateur repairs often result in ripped ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) connectors or damaged tracking hardware. Our technicians are trained in advanced component-level repair and microsoldering. During the matrix swap, we ensure that nearby SMD (Surface-Mount Device) components, BGA-soldered display controllers, and internal potentiometers remain completely undisturbed.
